I'm not the original post of this thread, the thread belongs to Corin, I'm merely posting this for preservation purpose, all rights belongs to the original post

To stop actors growing in size during animations, disable "Potential CTD Fix" and after that, disable also "Scale Actors Height" from Sexlab Framework's MCM.

I've spent the last weeks to create a stable and more or less perfect Skyrim installation (well for me at least) with sex scenarios in mind.

I fixed loads of Grey Faces problems, mod conflicts, armor problems and I converted the most important RCOTS based mods to Sky. I want to share my work and experience I also want to continue to convert more mods to come. Especially more mods, since so far I've been concentrating on mods.

I know that many of what I list here is available elsewhere, but to be honest, for the normal person it's almost impossible to find what you really need to get yourself started.
I'll try to add the original threads and credentials if I know them. If I forgot one, please let me know and I'll add them.

Vistarrr also created a very detailed beginner's guide himself which is available here. Please see this posting as a complimentary addition, not as a replacement.

And finally a list of a lot of related mods for Skyrim can be found in the Mod Master List. Check this out if you got everything working and want to get even more!

Section 1: Basic Tools and installation

You can skip this section if you're an experience Skyrim modder!

Preparation
  • Start with a clean Skyrim installation
  • Install the latest Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) package directly into Skyrim directory. This package is a requirement for basically everything.
  • Even if you don't want to use ENB (an extensive graphic enhancement patch), you should install it anyway, because it allows Skyrim to use much more video memory and reduces engine crashes significantly. You can always disable the visual changes while retaining the improvements to Skyrim's stability. You can get it from here. Unpack the archive and copy the contents of the directory "WrapperVersion" directly into your Skyrim directory (d3d9.dll must end up in the base directory of Skyrim, where TESV.exe is located as well).
  • Optional: To disable ENBs changes of the visual look, following the following steps. Personally, I like the effects ENB offers if you use a proper preset (like RealVisionENB).
Edit the file enblocal.ini (in your Skyrim directory).
  • Find the line UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false and change it to UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true and save the file.

[*]By default, ENB disables the internal Skyrim post processing effects. The idea is that they sometimes interfere with the ENB effects - but on the other hand you lose certain effects that are important for the gameplay, like the underwater blurring effect or certain nightvision effects. Because of that I like to enable the original effects. To do that, follow this step:
  • Edit the file enbseries.ini (in your Skyrim directory).
  • Find the line UseOriginalPostProcessing=false and change it to UseOriginalPostProcessing=true

After that there's usually no need to change anything in the Skyrim directory itself anymore. All the modding is done with Mod Organizer, which is extremely elegant, because it never changes anything in Skyrim installation itself, all the modding is done in a "virtual installation", where you can move around mods, undo changes and uninstall everything without affecting Skyrim itself or any other mod.

If you don't want to use Mod Organizer, then you'll probably run into problems sooner or later, and there's not much to resolve that. So please just get used to MO, you'll be glad you did, believe me, even though it's harder to grasp the principle in the beginning.

Mod Organizer
  • Download Mod Organizer from here
  • If you want to learn more about ModOrganizer, you can watch this video by Gopher. Also look at the tutorials available in ModOrganizer itself by clicking on the question mark icon in the top right of the window. Everything you ever want to know about MO you can read from the STEP Mod Organizer Guide.
  • The most important thing is, that after you've installed MO, you can ONLY start Skyrim from within MO itself by selecting SKSE (the Skyrim Script Extender Startup) and pressing Run. Don't start Skyrim through Steam, by starting the launcher or the TESV.exe itself. All of that would start Skyrim without any mods or SKSE.
LOOT

LOOT (Load Order Optimization Tool) is a tool that helps organizing the load order of mods. The load order is essential for the mods to work correctly together. There's also a sorting option included in Mod Organizer, but if you want some configuration option (which you'll need as explained further down), you need to use LOOT as an external tool.
  • Download LOOT from here
  • Install it on your computer.
  • ONLY ever start Loot from within Mod Organizer! Otherwise LOOT will not be able to see any mods!
  • To start LOOT from within Mod Organizer, you have to add it as an executable to ModOrganizer. That can be done using the
    cogs.png
icon on the top. If you need more help, see this tutorial.
  • Whenever you add or change a mod, you should resort your plugins using LOOT. Start it through MO (select LOOT as an executable and click Run) and Click the "Sort Plugins" button
    sort.png
. Make sure to press "Apply" when LOOT is finished and close it.
Further details about Mod Organizer, LOOT and how to configure Skyrim can be found in the Project STEP Wiki. It's a lot to read, but it covers everything.

Section 2: Basic Mods
Here's a list of the absolut bare necessary mods. Install them in the order listed here:
  • Unofficial Skyrim Legendarty Edition Patch
This is required in every Skyrim installation. It contains a multitude of fixes made by community. Many mods rely on its presence. Just install it and keep it on the top most spot in MO.
  • SkyUI
A replacement for all the menus in Skyrim. It's an absolute must, especially since practically all mods use its special "Mod configuration menu" (also known as MCM) to allow changing the respective mod's own settings. After you install any mod, press Escape and look into the "Mod configuration" sub menu to see if the new mod has added it's own menu there.
  • RaceMenu
The de-facto standard replacement for the character generation screen. There are loads of plugins available, including one for Sky (listed below). Also see the notes and addons for RaceMenu in the chapter about "Sky" and "SexLab Blushed when Aroused"
  • Realistic Ragdolls and Force
Changes the way the game applies physics on objects and characters. Install either the Realistic or Reduced Force. Required by many advanced animation features.
  • Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS
This is an essential mod if you want to use any kind of custom animation, including the ones for SexLab. You have to remember to rerun the "GenerateFNISforUsers.exe" each time you add or update any mod, than contains animations! There is a description and video linked on the FNIS page explaining how to do that from inside of Mod Organizer. Please watch it, this is essential, without that you will get no animations at all and the game will essentially be broken!
For SexLab you usually only need to tick the options "Gender Specific Animations" and "Skeleton Arm Fix".
I also recommend adding the Creature Pack (available as an optional download on the FNIS page) if you want to see sex with creatures (many mods require that) and the Spells and Idles addon.
A separate mod by the same author called FNIS PCEA2 (Player Exclusive Animations) allows you to add animations which are used for the player only.
And FNIS Sex Move gives female NPCs a seductive, female walk.
  • RaceCompatibility
This is a requirement if you use custom races like Sky.
  • More Follower Voices Mod - MFVM
This allows more different races - including - to be used as followers. It's not just about their voices, without this mod, the races usually don't work correctly as companions.
  • Fuz Ro D-oh - Silent Voice
Many mods add unvoiced dialog. In the vanilla game you're not able to read these dialog lines, because they are skipped over so fast if there's no recorded voiced dialog. This mod will fix that, so it's also an absolute must when using about any quest or NPC related mod.
  • XPMSE Maximum Skeleton Extended
This is a requirement for many mods, animations, many sliders in RaceMenu and, most importantly, for SOS (see below).
Optional but nonetheless very recommended mods:
  • Extensible Follower Framework (EFF)
A mod that allows you to have more than one follower (including ). It also has an extensive and intuitive menu to manage their equipment, stats, settings and so on.
  • Amazing Follower Tweaks (AFT)
An alternative follower mod (install instead of the Extensible Follower Framework, not together). It is older and uses a much less sleek user interface but offers a lot of more functions and possibilities than EFF. Still works fine regardless of its age.
  • Customizeable Camera
If you want to play as a , this is a very good way to adapt the camera's POV in third person
  • Size does Matter Universal Race Scale Remover
Stops the game from re-sizing an NPC when interacting with the world (like sitting down). When playing with races or NPCs, this is basically essential, otherwise you'll get giant everywhere as soon as they sit down or start to interact with anything in the world.
  • Alternate Start - Live Another Live
Gives the player an alternate way to start a new game. You can still follow the main story line, the mod gives you a beautiful, alternate way to get into the main story line, but without the heavily scripted Helgen scene that Skyrim starts the game with. Many mods have problems with the Helgen scene, so this is basically a must have.
  • Skyrim Unbound
An alternative to Alternate Start. Just install one of them!

Section 3: Sex mods

This is a list of essential mods required for a sexual gameplay in Skyrim. Sometimes, if there alternatives, I try to list them as well.

Body replacers for women

For women, there are two body replacers, which allows them to be nude, improve them visually and also makes them available for sex mods. Which one to use is a matter of taste. Install just one of those!
  • Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Edition - CBBE
This mod offers many options, including a nude body, and also improves the look of the women's faces. There's also an optional Body Slide mod which allows you to modify the shape of the body, of the boobs etc. This flexibility makes this my favorite women's body mod. Out of the box, the breats are a bit too big, for my taste, though, but that can be fixed with Body Slide.
    Additional, optional components:
Caliente's Vanilla Outfits for CBBE - Stock armor conversion for CBBE
  • Killer Keos Skimpy CBBE Armor Replacer - More revealing (but still SFW) armor replacer for CBBE. Install below of Caliente's Armor replacer.
  • Body Slide and Outfit studio - With this you can change the body (incl. breats etc.) to your liking. Important: Any change can also be applied to all armor (otherwise the look of a person would be much different when wearing an armor).

[*]Dimonized UNP female body - UNP
Favored by many because of it's more slender body and more realistic breasts.
I'm not so familiar with UNP stuff, but anyway here are some pointers:

For those of you who like to see animated pussies and boobs (see also the Sky body for HDT), you can also install
Body replacers for men

There are two options for men. The newer and certainly most flexible one is Shape Atlas for Men - SAM - but unfortunately, most mods still require SOS (see below). Even though SAM is compatible is many respects, it's currently much safer to use SOS:
  • Schlongs of Skyrím - SOS
This will not only give you a nice, nude male body (with options for muscular, slender, hairy or hairless) but also a fully working dick ("Schlong") which dangles around as the character moves and of course will erect when needed.
    Additional, optional components:
Leito Schlongs Addon - Allows to you to chose uncut cocks and also has nicer cocks for Argonians and Kjahjiit
  • Aoki's Revealing Armor - A package of revealing (NSFW) armor for SOS. Also sets the "Revealing" flag in the armors, so SOS knows that it has to show the dick (on armor packages which are revealing but don't set the Revealing flag themselves, the user has to activate the schlong manually in SOS's MCM).
  • DarkSchneiderBS's Skimpy Male Armors Conversion - Covers armor and clothes that's not included in Aoki's package. Includes packages for both DLCs.
  • Smooth Male Body - A better normal map for SOS (only install the file for SOS!)
  • Better males - For nicer male faces. Make sure only to install one of the "Faces" files!

SexLab
SexLab is the basic framework created by Ashal, the proprietor of LoversLab. Practically all sex related mods require it. Unfortunately, it contains safeguards so it doesn't work for races. Fortunately there's a patch for that.
There are loads of additional mods on Lover's Lab to be used with SexLab. I'm only listing the most important ones, that are either required by many mods or just my personal recommendation
  • Aroused Redux - Monitors and changes the arousal level of the player and of NPCs
  • Cumshot - Pretty self explanatory. If you want to see it cumming, get this.
  • Blush When Aroused - Because look so cute when blushing. Note: There's a problem with the latest RaceMenu which causes this mod to fail. There's a fix for that you can download here: View attachment Enable Face Overlays.7z. This can(!) cause a crash, though, when somebody is decaptivated (this is why RaceMenu disabled it). It's worth to use it anyway, in my opinion. Just save regularly.
  • SexLab Eager NPCs - There are countless mods which allow you to have sex with NPCs in the game world but this is one of the least intrusive one. Also it allows you to pay skill trainers with sexual service, which is a very nice addition and works quite well with a number of the Sky mod further down which change existing trainers into or add brand new trainers (see the mod "Savants").

Section 4: Sky

For having nice looking in Skyrim you either have to use Sky or RCOTS (Reworked of the Sky). RCOTS is no longer officially available and the author basically dropped it. It's also really a hack and doesn't play very nice with Skyrim, some mechanics are outdated as well. That's why I recommend using Sky instead. But since most mods are still based on RCOTS, I've made the effort to converting them to Sky and I will continue to do so. In the end there should be no reason to use RCOTS anymore :)

  • Download Sky made by en_hawk from here. Find the "Sky main file" further down the text, that's the only thing you need.
  • Install Sky through ModOrganizer. The installer will pop up some options:
    "Standard install"
  • Activate the optional "Drow Race", "Monli race", " of the Sky", followers and presets if you like to use/have them.
  • You don't need the NPC replacers, because I created a fixed version of them to download below. It doesn't matter If you checked these option, though, because my fix will just overwrite the included replacers.
  • Check the "The Eyes of Beauty" option! Without this, my conversions won't work! You also have to install the original Eyes of Beauty mod.
  • Check the "Playable Races" option. some mods require that.
  • Check the "Alternate Male Body" option. Because the nude patch only works with the alternate male body!

[*]Download and install the Sky nude patch: View attachment SK Nude Patch.7z. It's required to get naked .
[*]Download and install a small fix for a bug in Sky Beta 5 which causes missing feet on Imperial boys and girls (only needed if the option for playable and alternate male body was used when installing Sky): View attachment Sky Missing Feet Fix.7z
[*]Download SOS - Schlongs of Skyrim (see above) and the SOS Sky addon: View attachment SOS for SK Alt Male Body Fixed.7z and install them
[*]Download and install XPMSE Skeletons for Characters by Johann7124 - required for many character options and animations.
Optional downloads:
  • Download and install Sexlab Voices (thread, made by Vistarrr, sunspotz and ArcAIN6): View attachment Sexlab Voices.7z Note: I've combined everything into this one archive, no additional steps or downloads necessary. For me, the voices only work on a new game start, not when installing in an existing game.
  • If your player character is a , you might want to install this great voice pack that changes the shout, fighting and other noises the player is making to sound like a or a . It was compiled by Ulithium_Dragon and Johann7124. Here's the original thread for this mod..
  • To be able to use Sky properly in the RaceMenu, you need to install this small addon below RaceMenu: View attachment SK RaceMenu Update.7z
  • SexLab xxsUtility (by Vistarr) is required my some mods to detect properly.
  • SexLab Animation Profile for by Ulithium_Dragon tries to better align the animations for . Sometimes you have to realign them anyway, using the hot keys of SexLab (install below SexLab!)
  • If you want to use moving and animated pussies and maybe even a pregnancy belly, you can install the "Sky UUNP body for Drow, CotS R2, Vanilla Sky" by HiveTyrant (original thread): View attachment Sky UUNP body.7z. Install below the SOS Sky addon! Please note that you also need special armors for the which you can find in this thread. And the HDT Physics Extension is also required of course.
For a sweaty or even oily look (for men, women, ), I've created additional addons. More details about the effect and screenshots are available here. Choose EITHER the oily or the sweaty look, use the screenshots to decide which one you prefer.
They have to loaded below Sky and below the SOS Sky addon.

[*]Sweaty look:

-H- created some specular map textures for RCOTS (original thread) which were converted to Sky by Smidgy. This makes the skin look like the sweat is actually running down the body. Very hot in combination with one of the addons above. Screenshots here. Works for all Sky races and genders.
  • Sky & Sweaty Skin: View attachment SK & x117 Sweaty Skin.7z

Section 5: NPC Replacers

NPC replacers replace the ugly NPCs in Skyrim with the nice, good looking ones of Sky. Some also change men and women into .
The NPC replacers included in Sky itself are broken with the alternate male body, though. They cause Grey Faces in many cases. Same is true with other replacers on Nexus. I've fixed them and put them up here. Please let me know if you want another one to be fixed.

NPC replacers that only contains girls but no boys (like Falskaar or Winterhold Rebuild) don't need any fix. All others packages have to be fixed, but I haven't had the time yet (and I don't use the respective mods), but feel free to request any package you require.

I tried to test all my fixes, but there's always a chance that I missed something. So if you see a grey faced , please let me know (exact name of the and place please)

Section 6: Armor replacers

In general, all armor mods work just fine with Sky, because it comes with an intergrated armor patcher, which just rescales any armor for a s body and makes it available for all races.
Skyrim's stock armor was converted manually by en_hawk himself and is part of the Sky package.

However, if you want more revealing stock armor for your , you need some additional work. I've fixed and combined two packages, one originally made by johann7124 available in this thread, and the other one, which was originally made for RCOTS by JuSkyriman (original thread with screenshots) and has been adapted for Sky by me. I've combined both packs into one:
There's also a NSFW package for made by johann7124 which you can install below this package
  • View attachment SK NSFW Armor.7z
I tried to find all broken armors, I think most, if not all, are working just fine. If you see any misscaled or invisible armor, then please just let me know.

More interesting armor packages made by Ulithium_Dragon can be found here.

Note about SOS armor replacers:
*** to be added later ***

Section 7: Load order

This section is essential, because a wrong load order can cause all kinds of problems, like misformed NPCs (inlcuding grey faces), non-working quests and equipment that doesn't work as intended. Not everything can be resolved automatically with LOOT...

1. plugin load order versus mod load order

Actually, there are two different load orders:
The plugin load order defines in which order the various .esp and .esm plugins are loaded. This load order is the one that's managed by LOOT.
The other one is the mod load order, which is used if one asset file (like a texture, mesh or script) is defined in more than one mod. That's quite common, especially with armor mods or patches.

2. Managing the mod load order
Before we had Mod Organizer, the only way to manage the mod order was the order in which the mods were installed. Mod installed later normally overwrote the files present by previous installation. The only way to change the order was to reinstall all mods in the intended order.
With Mod Organizer, however, you can change the order of the mods just by drag and drop of the mods in left window. By default (if you haven't changed the sorting of the mod listing) mods further down the list (with a higher priority number) have priority over mods further up the list. So the general rule is: If you want a mod to win, you just have to move it further down the list.

For this thread I'm explaining how this is used for sex and / related content, but the idea should be clear.

I recommend the following order of mods (from least to highest priority):
  • All other mods, usually the most basic ones (like the Unofficial patches etc.) at the top of the list
  • Texture mods (like Skyrim 2k or SMIM)
  • Standard body replacer mods, like CBBE, UNP,
  • Beautifier like "Pretty Faces", "Fine Faces", "Eyes of beauty", "Apachii" etc.. Note that some of them might override parts of your body replacers. If you don't want that, change the order!
  • FNIS base
  • FNIS additional animations
  • Schlongs of Skyrim
  • SOS texture and mesh changes if you want them
  • SOS addons
  • SOS revealing armor patches (see note about these in Section 6!)
  • SexLab Framework (including the Sky patch!)
  • SexLab additions and mods (incl. the xxsUtility)
  • Sky
  • Sky revealing armor (from section 6)
  • Sky nude patch
  • Sky NPC Replacers (from section 5)
  • Sky mods & addons
The files created by FNIS and dynamic patcher like the "Dual Sheath Redux" patcher always have to be at the bottom of the list.

3. Managing the plugin load order
As written before, LOOT is doing most work to manage your load order. Unfortunately, there are some cases where this will fail, though, because there's no way for loot to know which order is the one required. For example, if more than one mod is altering a standard Skyrim NPC, the one which is loaded last will win and all changes on that NPC done by previously loaded mods are lost. That's why it's always easier if a mod doesn't change standard assets (NPCs, armor, weapons etc.) but just creates its own stuff.

But, as always, life is not that easy... :)

An example:

The Sky NPC replacers replace, not really suprisingly, the stock . But so do some of the mods like MoreFun - and the quests of MoreFun just don't work anymore or don't make any sense, if you don't get the changes it does to stock NPCs.

That's why I list some important plugin load order rules here. I'll add to this list as I realize more required load orders.
  • MoreFunIntergrated.esp has to be loaded after about ANY other mod. MoraFun overwrites a couple of standard NPCs like Uthgerd the Unbroken or Saerlund. You just cannot complete the quests if you don't allow these be defined by MoreFun!
  • This causes a problem with SkyHunks, which has to be loaded before MoreFun, but then Searlund will look ugly and get a Grey Face. I made a patch for SkyHunks which resolves that issue, which I can upload if anyone is interested.
It's possible to create custom rules in LOOT to ensure that LOOT will sort the plugins properly!

Section 8: Mod conversions for Sky

In this section I'll put all conversions of RCOTS mod I've done. All these mods are now working with Sky!

Of course all the credits go the repective original authors who made all the work! I just converted them using a script. The conversions should be almost 100% identical to the original mods, all quests, places and functions intact. The NPCs are changed to Sky with identical skin color, armor and other assets. If possible, the hair style will also be identical in most cases, however, the eye color might have changed in some cases and the face geometry of the should only be more or less close to their respective original.

Many of the mods are centered right now (cause of my personal interests), but I'll happily convert any other mod, including mods, if requested. Just let me know. I'll also add more conversions as I find the time to do them.

All my conversions require the mods listed above. Additional requirements are listed with each conversion

Support package
This package contains some support textures from the original RCOTS, like freckles and other skin complexion textures, I used for some of my conversions, as the original mods are using them and they're not available in Sky.
You can install and use it even without any of my conversions. It will allow you to select the complexions for your own playable Sky and there'll also be some additional presets available in the character generator.

Camp Boy Toys
A extremely nice mod giving you slave in bandit camps and a House of Boys including some interesting stuff after you've freed enough of the boys.

The player has to be the Harbinger of the Companions (finished the Companion's quest line). Then he'll get a special dialog with Aela the Huntress which will start the Isle of Mara quest.

Alternatively you can just join the Companions (that's always required) and start the quest manually in the console with the command
SetStage melislemainquest 10
