Before I begin, I will add some context and my current solution to the issue. I will also go through all the different methods I have tried to resolve this issue on my own.
I use Firefox and usually never run into an issue browsing for mods for video games, let alone day to day usage; however while browsing for mods for Helldivers 2 I ran into a bit of a problem. When in the browsing menu for mods it pulls an unordinary amount of resources from the CPU, GPU, and memory until I select a mod and go into that mod’s webpage. The browsing menu webpage slows down my entire browser and affects it to such a degree that not only is browsing tedious and nearly unusable, but it affects other tabs which lags videos or streams on the other monitor.
I have isolated a temporary solution for this problem, by going to “Settings”, “Browsing and tabs”, then onto “Performance” and making sure either “Use recommended performance settings” or “Use hardware acceleration when available” is turned on. I believe however that an optimization or a coding change be issued to resolve this problem fully without needing to change personal settings for a single webpage.
I have also tried the following to solve this issue: clearing cookies and cache data, updating, restarting, and downloading a fresh install of Firefox, restarting my computer, updating GPU drivers, checking my connection and internet while on wired and wireless on the site, comparing webpage resource usage from the browsing menu compared to other webpages on the site as well as comparing other sites webpages, and disabling all addons.
