Hi there.

I had an issue previously and was running 7.0.1, was advised to downgrade to 6.2, so I have.

Since then, I've installed about 4 games successfully;

Final Fantasy 7
Dragonball FighterZ
Bomberman
Mario Party

All others that I have (Crash, Stranger Things, Final Fantasy 9, Mario Kart 8 etc etc) most, if not all are African ones so they do work for others. I'm running Atmosphere, using Hekate.

I want to say its the SD card, but the errors I'm getting are not indicative of that.

Error when attempting Tinfoil + USB loading of Final Fantasy 9.

Error when doing the same with Resident Evil 4.

Install of Stranger things 'works' with this error (placeholder exists as I tried goldleaf first) that states its successful

but .....I get no placeholder image and the below error...

I'm really not sure what I am doing differently... unless it truly is just a bad SD card (sadly I can't test anoter as I don't have one...)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

So many games coming up require at least 7.x.x
My advice is to stay at 7.0.1 in order to avoid further issues especially with the new games coming up this year, eventually you will run into a problem if you remain in 6.2.0.
Support for 7.0.1 is amazing. there is no reason to stay in 6.2.0 any more.
a couple of things that need to be answered

1 where did you get sigpatches ? are you using the latest version of atmosphere
2 were you using Fat32 on the other firmware and you downgraded to 6.2.0 with exFat, or vice versa???
3 have you tried gold leaf vr 0.5 and gold tree for USB installation?

PS When dealing with such large games over 4 gigs I usually put the NSP directly on the root of my sd card then I install it directly
sometimes large files dont install properly over USB.

Try to install a game directly on your system (not on the sd card) see if it installs properly

Your advice in my previous thread was to downgrade and that there was little to no reason to be on 7....

I'm on fat32, always have been.

I've used goldtree and tinfoil, tinfoil is more verbose rather than just stopping midway.

That was Months ago, CFW 7x.x had a few kinks that needed to be ironed out just like 8.x.x is now
atmosphere has since been updated many times. eventually when 9.x.x comes 8.xx will be the way to go.

I am assuming that you created a folder inside tinfoil/goldleaf called NSP. and inside that folder you have the split games. go ahead and install a game directly to your system memory. post what the outcome is.
if games work fine then we have some trouble shooting to do

I can't copy to SD and install as they are over the size limitations which would mean I'd need to wipe and restart... at this point it may be worth it.

I haven't created any folders. I connect as usual via USB and install over USB for both Goldtree and TinFoil in Windows.

I'll upgrade back to 7.0.1, my Atmosphere was updated in May but I can redo it. Reckon ExFAT is OK to use now...?

I assume you have always tried to install over USB and never split a NSP.
In order to put Large files over 4 Gigs directly on your SD card (in FAT32), you have to split the NSP. here is a link to a Youtube video on how to do it
https://ayakalounge.me/threads/how-to-split-nsps-for-fat32-switch-any-firmware.5293/
In my personal nintendo Switch I have almost always had issues installing such Large files over USB, I dont even try anymore
I just go do a straight install from my SD in order to avoid issues. ( one of them issues being the no place holder image among many others)

to answer your question : yes exFATis ok to use if you want to but you dont really have to format to exFAT if you dont want to

I've updated to 7.0.1 and managed to install 1 via sd card rather than usb. It seems to be OK but twice I've corrupted this card so I may get another!

awesome my friend. I am glad you fixed your issue.you are less likely to have problems instaling directly from SD card :cool:
if you have problems let us know

I hope so, just copying takes an age, 130GB of copying....
