AggressiveVehicleAggroFix [ WIP - Updated ] 0.1.0

A Mod for Helldivers 2
AggressiveVehicleAggroFix [ WIP - Updated ] akl_mod_preview_image

Aggressive Vehicle Aggro Fix

This mod aims to reduce the excessive enemy attention given to Super Earth vehicles, especially while they are unoccupied.

The current version removes the Super Earth faction tag from:

  • FRVs
  • Bastion Tank
  • All Exosuits
Initial testing on a Difficulty 7 Automaton mission was promising. I called in a tank, FRV, and two Exosuits and left them sitting around during combat. None were destroyed while unattended.

That is a major improvement over the behavior that originally motivated this mod.

Important

This is still experimental.

I originally tried removing the faction tag much earlier in development and saw no effect, so the most likely explanation is that my original patch simply was not being applied correctly.

The current runtime version verifies that the intended vehicle data is found and that the faction values are actually changed.

More testing is still needed with different factions, occupied vehicles, and longer combat situations.

Requirements

Bingus Shared Loader v15+ is required.

Place Bingus Shared Loader at top priority in your load order, with this mod loading after it.

The mod only targets the relevant vehicle faction data. It does not intentionally modify vehicle health, armor, weapons, handling, or stratagem balance.

Feedback and testing reports are welcome.

say that to my FRVs that get Target Locked by Impalers and Bile titans with ME AROUND
MF straight up disregard me and go for it

nah,it's the latest update cause the support FRV more hate than divers, thats arrowhead fault

It seems I owe an apology and I am man enough to admit when I am wrong. I have done further digging and testing and I agree... something else has changed to AI behavior about this fairly recently. I haven't been playing as much as I used to. And it may not be related to the vehicles settings or stats themselves in the game files but the AI directives.

I'm determined to get to the bottom of this, if it is at all possible I want to restore how it was before. I have downloaded the manifest files from 8 months ago, I'm going to compare the game files from then to now, to see if I can find something that gives me a lead to where this behavior changed.

Yeah something fishy is still going on with the Supply FRV (not because of your mod, vanilla speaking here).
If you play commando, enter the vehicle, suddenly everyone in a 200 meter radius knows where you are.
Leave the car, suddenly everyone is blind and continues going on their patrol lol.
This happens with the stealth armor most noticeably.

Hello sir, could you make a mod that lets the tank recognize the gunner’s WSAD input, or lets the gunner switch seats to the driver’s position without getting out?

I might consider looking into the seat swap situation but the gunner being able to drive does sound a bit too cheese.

Yeah this is exactly how I remember what the tank was like on release / since release. Part of the reason I quit playing on as much since cyberstan, I was quite pissed that the tank, the best kind of vehicle you'd think you'd want to fight the cyborgs/bots... was absolute crap tier against them because it would get shredded before you could expend even 20% of its ammo on D10.

I get not wanting it to be too easy but like... 13min cooldown, I get to play with it for like 60 seconds tops and poof its gone. Let me play the game a little at least. Christ. I get the idea the vehicles "shouldn't be stealthy" but they went extremely overboard on it and this is what I hope to pull the reins on.

Can you make a mod that actually stealths you from Vox Engines and Factory Striders when wearing stealth armor? It's honestly really stupid that they can detect you through walls and shi on Commando Missions

That has to do with the insane detection abilities of the gatling guns and missile launchers. (And the factory striders top most cannon)
They are actually separate AI entities from the thing moving around, they are merely attached. Think of them as mini-hive minds.
The actual core body, rolling/walking around, is genuinely quite stupid. All the brains are in the attached weapon pods.

At this point I'm not sure what is or what is not possible. I'm bound to explore some more but the problem is that I'm only so smart when it comes to this programming logic stuff and I only have so many tokens to work with every 5hrs/weekly for chatgpt->codex.

I have the $20~ monthly plan, I would need like the 100-200$ monthly plans to crank out as many mods as people are suddenly asking me for lol. And then I don't even know if you can get away with that and have the game not crash. This is all new territory we are breaching in the modding community I think and it walks the line of whats fair and whats not.

I won't endorse or participate in any modding that feels like absolutely blantant cheating, like inf ammo or perfect stealth.
But I will endorse or participate in mods that might unbullshit the game a little bit. But it is perhaps a fine line to walk and I'm sure there are many different points of view on what crosses the line and what doesn't.

especially gunships, they have a hard on for destroying unoccupied FRVs
Yeah, it was the moment when 400m gunship patrol diverted from my other 3 teammates and came straight for me on the other side of the map driving the bastion that made me realize there was more stuff going on with AI vs vehicles than the code initially let on.

This seems to be part of the the monkeys paw curl we get for them buffing the mechs and buffing the tank to heavy armor, I bet you....
