Grenade-Safety-Fuse-Removal 2026-09-27

A Mod for Helldivers 2
Grenade-Safety-Fuse-Removal akl_mod_preview_image

Grenade Safety Fuse Removal

This mod removes the safety-fuse behavior from several grenade-based weapons, allowing their projectiles to detonate more reliably at very close range instead of being affected by the normal arming-distance behavior.

It also adjusts the contact behavior of the R-36 Eruptor and CB-9 Exploding Crossbow, reducing unwanted ricochets when their projectiles hit surfaces at close range or unfavorable angles.

Supported Weapons

Safety-fuse removal applies to:

  • GL-15 Evictor
  • GL-52 De-Escalator
  • GL-21 Grenade Launcher
  • GP-31 Grenade Pistol
  • GL-28 Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher
  • E/GL-21 Grenadier Battlement
Ricochet behavior is improved for:

  • R-36 Eruptor
  • CB-9 Exploding Crossbow

What This Mod Changes

In the vanilla game, several grenade-based projectiles use a safety mechanism that can prevent them from detonating immediately when fired at very short distances.

This is useful for preventing accidental self-damage, but it can also make close-range combat feel inconsistent, especially when a projectile hits an enemy or surface directly but fails to explode as expected.

This mod removes that safety-fuse behavior from the supported grenade weapons.

As a result, close-range impacts become more direct and predictable.

The mod also reduces situations where the R-36 Eruptor and CB-9 Exploding Crossbow unexpectedly ricochet instead of producing their intended impact behavior.

Requirements

Bingus Shared Loader v17 is required.

Make sure Bingus Shared Loader is installed and working correctly before installing this mod.

Game Version

This version was created and tested for:

Steam Build 25480438

The mod performs version-specific checks and is not intended to be used with incompatible game builds.

After a game update, the mod may stop working until it has been updated for the new version.

Installation

  1. Install Bingus Shared Loader v17.
  2. Download Grenade Safety Fuse Removal.
  3. Import the archive into your supported HELLDIVERS 2 mod manager.
  4. Enable the mod.
  5. Launch the game normally.
No manual file editing should be required when using a compatible mod manager.

Uninstallation

Disable or remove Grenade Safety Fuse Removal from your mod manager.

The mod does not permanently modify the game's original weapon data.

Compatibility

This mod modifies runtime projectile behavior for the listed weapons.

Mods that change the same projectile records or related projectile properties may conflict with this mod.

If another mod changes the same data, one of the mods may fail to apply correctly.

Important Notes

This mod makes explosive weapons more dangerous at close range.

Because the safety-fuse behavior is removed, firing grenade weapons directly at nearby enemies, terrain, teammates, or objects can result in immediate explosions and increased self-damage.

Use close-range explosive weapons carefully.

Purpose

The goal of this mod is not to increase weapon damage.

Instead, it focuses on making grenade projectile behavior more consistent by removing the close-range safety-fuse restriction and reducing unwanted ricochets on selected explosive weapons.

I have a small suggestion: could the grenade's safety fuse work similarly to the Autocannon's Flak mode?

Basically, when the AC Flak mode at extremely close range, it would only trigger the warhead's initial knockback effect, without the subsequent shrapnel spread.

Would it be possible to give the grenade safety fuse the same kind of behavior as the AC Flak mode?

I think this would fit the concept of a safety fuse really well and make close-range grenade usage more interesting.

Can you please make grenades not explode after bounce? To prevent them from bouncing back to you then explode.
