Mags "Beep Bop" Carter
Turn Mags Carter's dialogue into expressive Droid chatter: bubbly beeps, questioning whistles, grumbles, combat bursts and exaggerated panicked squeals. Each replacement follows its original line's length, pauses and changes in intensity.
This is the first release in a planned series of comedy voice replacement mods for the game's characters. This download currently replaces Mags only.
Available language packs
English (US): version 0.2.0, 2,967 identified dialogue replacements.
Italian: version 0.3.0, 2,794 Italian replacements plus 173 English fallback replacements.
Spanish (Latin America): version 0.3.0, 2,794 localized replacements plus 173 English fallback replacements. This is separate from Spanish (Spain).
Install ONE pack matching your game's voice language. Italian and Latin American Spanish each include the needed English fallbacks; they do not require the English pack as well.
Requirements
Gears of War: E-Day on Steam for Windows, build 25724756. Match the selected Steam voice language to the downloaded pack. Other languages and game builds are not yet supported. A game update may require a rebuilt mod.
Manual installation
1. Close the game.
2. In Steam Library, right-click Gears of War: E-Day, open Properties and choose your language: English, Italiano, or Español - Latinoamérica. Let Steam finish downloading the official voices.
3. Download the matching ZIP from this page and extract it.
4. In Steam, right-click the game and choose Manage > Browse local files. Open FairlightConcept, then Content, then Paks.
5. Create a folder named ~mods inside Paks if it does not already exist.
6. If an earlier Mags Droid pack is installed, remove only that pack's three files from ~mods. If Vortex manages the old pack, disable it and Deploy Mods first.
7. Copy all THREE files from your chosen ZIP into FairlightConcept\Content\Paks\~mods. Keep their names exactly as supplied and use all three from the same ZIP. Do not overwrite the game's original pakchunk files.
8. Launch normally with Steam's Play button. Mags should make Droid noises while the other characters speak the selected language. Subtitles are unchanged.

Uninstall, update or switch language
Close the game and remove only the three files for the installed Mags pack. To update, replace all three together. To switch language, remove the old pack, select the new language in Steam, wait for its download, then install the matching pack. Keep an older ZIP if you want to roll back.
If Mags still has her normal voice
Check that the Steam voice language matches your pack, that all three files are together in ~mods, and that another Mags voice replacement is not installed. Restart the game after changing files. Check the game build if Steam has updated it.
Vortex users
Each separate language ZIP also has the three-file layout checked against ChemBoy1's E-Day Vortex Extension 1.0.0. With that extension already configured, use Mods > Install From File, choose one language ZIP, Enable and Deploy Mods. Launch through Steam. A full live Vortex deployment test has not been performed.
Scope and testing
The packs replace identified spoken dialogue used by gameplay and cutscene tracks. Separate breathing, grunts, Foley and mixed cinematic effects are outside the spoken-line scope. Other characters' dialogue and subtitles are unchanged. Other mods replacing the same Mags dialogue assets may conflict.
Gameplay and cutscene listening spot checks passed for English, Italian and Latin American Spanish on Steam build 25724756. This is not a complete campaign listening audit. Automated audio checks and package extraction checks passed. Online and anti-cheat compatibility remain unverified; the mod is intended for single-player campaign use and includes no anti-cheat bypass or launch-setting changes.
Creation and credits
The replacement sounds are original procedural synthesis. No sampled film clips, cloned voice or original spoken dialogue are mixed into them. AI coding assistance was used to develop the tools and prepare this description.
Development tools: retoc, repak, wav2wem and vgmstream. CUE4Parse provided a reference for the game's media format. Tool executables and extracted original dialogue are not included in the downloads.
