Dive in shallow water. Works after the EAC update.
Stock, a dive into shallow water gets cancelled: your Helldiver stumbles instead of diving. With this mod you can dive in water up to about waist deep, and you get 10 seconds before drowning instead of 5.
It uses the values from CowboyBingus' Shallow Water Diving (Vanilla Plus Megapack). That version needed the Bingus Shared Loader, which stopped working with the October 20 update. This one changes the game's settings file instead, so it needs no loader - only the mod manager.
Pick a variant
The mod's option has a drop-down:
What changes
Install (HD2 Mod Manager or HD2 Arsenal)
Uninstall
How it works
The mod replaces the game's boot script, which is empty in the stock game. On exit, that script backs up data/game/generated_entities.dl_bin and swaps in the modded copy carried in the mod. It refuses to write over a file it doesn't recognise, for example after a game update or with another mod that changed the same file, and then it does nothing. A log is written to HD2FileMods.log in the game folder.
The download is big (about 95 MB) because the file it replaces is about 47 MB, and the zip carries one copy for each variant.

Pick a variant
The mod's option has a drop-down:
- Shallow water only - this mod alone.
- Shallow water + Consistent Vaulting - both mods in one file. Use this if you also want Consistent Vaulting, and untick the separate Consistent Vaulting mod (both change the same game file, so only one of them could be active otherwise).
What changes
- Water reference raised (-1.3 -> -1.7, its second reference -1.6 -> -2.0): dives work in water up to about waist deep.
- 10 seconds before drowning (stock 5).
- Side effects: standing, you wade about 0.4 m deeper before you start swimming, and when you swim in deep water your head stays under the surface.
Install (HD2 Mod Manager or HD2 Arsenal)
- Add the zip to the mod manager. Both options start ticked - leave them. Pick the variant in the drop-down.
- Deploy.
- Launch the game, wait for the main menu, then exit the game normally (Esc > Quit). The file is swapped on exit.
- Launch again. The mod is now active.
Uninstall
- Untick Shallow Water Diving, keep Uninstall helper ticked, and deploy.
- Launch the game and exit normally. The original file is put back.
- Disable or remove the mod.

Requirements and compatibility
- A mod manager (HD2 Mod Manager or HD2 Arsenal).
- Made for the current game version (October 22 hotfix, build 26088801; also recognises the October 20 build). After a game update it changes nothing until this mod is updated.
- Changes data/game/generated_entities.dl_bin, the same file as Consistent Vaulting: use the combined variant instead of both mods.
- Works together with Stratagem Balls Stay Put 1.0.3 or newer - different file, same installer, tick both.
- Doesn't work together with other mods that replace data/game/generated_entities.dl_bin (most weapon buff packs, JAR-5 Buff Pack and similar) - only one of them can be active. The installer then changes nothing and says so in the log.
- Tested solo.
