Evictor Kitchen Sink

AI disclosure: built using Claude Opus 5.5.
Gameplay mod only, not a cosmetic one. It changes what the GL-15 Evictor's grenade does when it bursts. The Evictor still looks and sounds the same.
Built on the GL-777 Roulette, whose original concept and design are by u/WaywardOath (Reddit). All credit for the Roulette idea goes to them. Gub: playtesting and publishing.
This mod is lightly tested. If you run into a bug, please report it in the comments along with your HD2Runtime log (see "Reporting bugs" below).

Required mods

  • Bingus Shared Loader (v15 or newer)
  • HD2Runtime (0.28.0 or newer)
  • Optional: CowboyBingus' Mod Options Menu (needs Bingus Shared Loader v18+) to change the settings in game. Without it the defaults below are used.
  • Don't run it together with the GL-777 Roulette (or the GL-777 Evictor). The Kitchen Sink already includes the Roulette's shells. Both change the Evictor, so disable the old one in your mod manager. If both are on, the Kitchen Sink stops at startup and the log says so.

What it does

You pick the GL-15 Evictor's shell from the game's own weapon menu. Hold Reload with the Evictor in hand and the menu now has a Rate of Fire row. Every press of that row loads the next shell:
Stun > Gas > Smoke > Incendiary > High Explosive > Ultimatum > back to Stun.
A small display next to your ammo names the loaded shell and its place in the menu (for example GAS 2/6). It pops up bigger for a moment when you switch.

Every shell flies like a normal Evictor grenade and bursts with its donor's own explosion, including the gas cloud, fire or smoke that explosion leaves.
Why Rate of Fire? HD2Runtime only lets the Evictor have the game's rate-of-fire selector (it can't take an ammo-type or fire-mode row), so that row does the switching. Its three entries read 59, 60 and 61 rpm, which is the Evictor's own 60 rpm give or take one. The display tells you which shell is loaded.

More in the menu (optional)

In MODS you can add more to the end of the menu:
  • 18 more shells on the Shells page: Frag, Pineapple, Impact, Incendiary Impact, Thermite, Arc, Pyrotech, Urchin, Smokescreen, Dynamite, Giga, Immolation, Seeker, Anti-Tank Seeker, and the Eruptor, GL-21, W.A.S.P. and Spear rounds. You can also take any of the six out.
  • The Roulette: the GL-777 Roulette, a random grenade every shot (Stun, Gas, Smoke, Incendiary or High Explosive at 18.6% each, or the Ultimatum jackpot at 7%).
  • The vanilla Evictor round.

How to use it

  1. Install with your mod manager (Arsenal or HD2MM), make sure the required mods are installed, then Purge and Deploy.
  2. Take the GL-15 Evictor as your primary. It starts on Stun (or the shell you used last).
  3. In a mission, hold Reload and press the Rate of Fire row to step to the next shell. The display at the bottom right shows what's loaded.
  4. Optional: Escape > MODS > Evictor Kitchen Sink for the settings, and Evictor Kitchen Sink: Shells to choose the shells in the menu. Press APPLY (Tab).

The extra keys are optional, for switching without opening the menu or for going back a shell (the menu only steps forward). If you also run Gub's 40-K Hellgun, don't pick N or B: the Hellgun uses those.

Quirks

  • The Rate of Fire row appears on an Evictor built after the game starts. Your first mission is fine. If you enable the mod mid-mission, the Evictor you're holding doesn't have the row yet: the display says NEW EVICTOR FOR MENU. After you're reinforced, or in your next mission, the Evictor has the row.
  • The six shells load their effects at startup, the same way as the GL-777 Roulette. A shell you add from the Shells page loads when you add it, usually in a few seconds. Until it has loaded, the display says (LOADING) and the Evictor fires its normal round.
  • Shells burst on impact like the Evictor's own round. They have no fuse, don't bounce or stick, and grenades that do more than explode don't do that part: the Seekers don't launch a drone, and Thermite doesn't stick and burn through.
  • A grenade still in the air when you switch shells may burst as the new shell.
  • The menu row only steps forward.
  • With teammates also using the Evictor, the mod follows the Evictor whose menu changes while you're holding yours, and lets go whenever you put it away. If a teammate switches at the exact moment of your first press after you take the Evictor out, it could follow theirs until you put yours away again.
  • The menu row only counts up to two presses at a time: mash it three times in a split second and the shell may not change.
  • Best solo or as host. As a client, what your teammates see may differ from what you see.
  • While the mod is on, every Evictor in your game uses your selected shell, including teammates' Evictors on your screen.
  • Other mods that change the Evictor's round, or give it a weapon-menu row, will conflict. The mod stops itself safely (or turns the menu off and keeps the extra keys) and says so in the log.
  • A game update can disable it: before writing anything, the mod checks the game's explosion data, and if it has changed it stops and leaves the Evictor vanilla. If the game's rate-of-fire code changes, the menu turns off and the display says MENU OFF, SEE LOG; the extra keys still switch shells.
  • Your last shell is saved in EvictorKitchenSink.save, next to your Bingus logs. If that shell isn't in the menu when the game starts, you start on the first one.
  • If a shell's effects can't be loaded at all, the display says (UNAVAILABLE) and it drops out of the menu.
  • Memory-only: turning the mod off or restarting the game gives you the vanilla Evictor back.

Adding a shell (for modders)

Every shell is one line in the SHELLS table at the top of src/addon.lua. It needs:
  • a donor HD2Runtime can load (kind = throwable, weapon or support, plus its name);
  • either the donor's explosion type (explosion=N, from HD2Runtime's research for the current build) or the projectile type whose impact explosion it borrows (record=N, read live and build-checked);
  • menu=true if it should be in the menu by default.
Its switch appears on the Shells page by itself, and the menu picks it up.

Reporting bugs

Leave a comment describing what happened and paste your HD2Runtime log (the lines starting with kitchen sink are the important ones). To copy it, open PowerShell and run:
Code:
Get-Content "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\Logs\HD2Runtime.log" | Set-Clipboard
Then paste (Ctrl+V) into your comment.

Credits

  • u/WaywardOath (Reddit): original concept and design of the GL-777 Roulette, which the Kitchen Sink builds on. All credit for the Roulette idea goes to them.
  • Gub: playtesting and publishing.
  • Built with Claude Opus 5.5.
  • HD2Runtime by Skyeshade, including the explosion, package-loading and rate-of-fire selector research this is built on. Bingus Shared Loader and Mod Options Menu by CowboyBingus.
  • Projectile-record discovery adapted from HD2 Grenade Contact Detonation by etxp (MIT license).
  • The shell display's pixel lettering is the renderer from Gub's Super Destroyer Arcade, which follows Know Your Constellation by CowboyBingus (Zero-Clause BSD).
