DBS-2 Breakthrough Rounds — v1.1.2 Performance Update
What Changed
v1.1.2 is a pure performance and reliability update.
All weapon stats are unchanged (damage 90, AP 7, 40 pellets, reduced drag, −75% spread) — it addresses reports of stuttering caused by the mod repeatedly scanning process memory.
The Problem
The mod locates the weapon data tables by scanning the game's memory. These tables live at very high addresses (~2.5 TB), so a full scan pass had to walk 3–5 GB of committed memory. With the old settings, one pass took roughly 140–160 seconds of CPU time while consuming ~2.5 ms
every frame, and whenever the tables weren't loaded (e.g., aboard your ship, where weapon records are not instantiated), the mod would retry the entire full scan every 1–5 minutes — indefinitely. The result: noticeable, recurring stutter.
The Fix
- Much faster scans — per-frame scan budget raised and byte cap increased 8 MB → 32 MB, cutting a full pass from ~160 s down to roughly 22–45 s.
- Smarter retries — when nothing is found (you're on the ship or in a menu), retry backoff now starts at 5 s and caps at 60 s. Waiting costs zero CPU per frame.
- Wider region filter — the scanner no longer skips mapped / read-only / execute-protected memory regions or large table bundles (up to 8 GB), which previously caused missed targets and endless rescans.
- Safe write fallback — if a record sits on a read-only page, the mod now temporarily flips the page protection, writes, and restores it.
- Frame-throttle hook added for future tuning.
All changes are runtime-only: nothing on disk is modified, and everything reverts when the game closes.
Installing
Import DBS2-Breakthrough-Rounds-v1.1.2.zip into your mod manager — it replaces v1.1.1 in place (same addon GUID). Requires Bingus Shared Loader v15+.
Feedback: if you still feel any stutter, drop a note — a single knob (SCAN_FRAME_INTERVAL) can halve per-frame cost in a future build.
Well that is what AI told me. I told it to fix performance issues and it ended up with this. Hope it works.
I run a few tests and I believe that if you have multiple mods, it is a good idea to stay in your super destroyer for 3-6 mins every time the game starts, and wait for all the mods to scan and load, or some mods may not load and performance issues may occur in-game.
