All The Fallen has a debates section. What the subforum is really about is flame wars. Literally every thread is a flame war.

So why is this a good idea to add to this site? Well on the ATF forum, it served as a pressure valve to contain all the nastiest flame wars, as without it, the pressure would build up to dangerous levels, and then explode, causing a crisis for the content moderation team. Especially since we are about to see a dramatic increase in user activity because ATF's closure is imminent.

I'm no expert on debate sections or the vitriol that it could potentially contain, but that's kind of the point. I don't engage with it, and I've never felt the need to engage with it.

A debates area is only important to those that like to debate, or discuss bigger topics or bigger issues than what's currently in their close vicinity and what they can, in fact do something about.
Opening the proverbial floodgates to openly debate topics, such as this, is to openly welcome it and is equal to playing with a fire that can hurt everyone. The fact that it would be there, is not always a form of "pressure valve" it tends to instead be turned into a big pink elephant in the room, that only those that are wanting to vent their frustrations or need to throw their proverbial mud in some direction, any direction, will actually acknowledge and discuss...

This forum, and this community, is not about Politics, it's not about social issues, it's not about wars. It's about games and mods. And it's also very clearly anti-political correctness. So in order to avoid muddying the waters in those areas, I'd be highly skeptical to the concept of having such a dedicated area.

I would instead highly urge anyone that needs to discuss such topics, to do so elsewhere.

But that's just my personal opinion, I'm not speaking on behalf of any staff on here.
