Is it possible to download roms within Retroarch?

I've been looking for a while but nearly everyone asks to download whole collections. To be fair, I don't want to download 50gb of a collection which is going to have at least 10 different region versions of the same game.

And on most websites are not willing to discuss online downloading methods through retroarch - which I can understand. As far I understood, you can somehow assign a gdrive folder as your rom folder and use it as an online repo for your plays. But retroarch's menu is intimating and full of jargons that I never heard of. Would really appreciate if you happen to know a guide or a trick for online downloads through retroarch.

if you want one game here one game there. you are better off downloading single roms and putting them on your SD card manually

Well, I admit that I was looking a bit more intuitive lazier method than that lol. But I was doing exactly that atm. If that's the most reliable method it's fine. Thanks for your lightning fast reply dorian!
