let me help you here. I have stated before STAY on whatever firmware your NS is on. DONT update oficial firmware

ChoiDujourNX is you answer: it is a Homebrew Application. ChoiDujourNX will allow you to update a banned Switch console or a Switch that’s not connected to the internet to the latest firmware available..
what that means is that even thou you are on 7.x.x OFICIAL Firmware. with ChoiDujourNX you can install resent firmwares example 8.0.1 and run games that require said firmware.

your switch will remain in official firmware 7.x.x but in CFW it will be 8.0.1

that being said you asked me what was the most stable. and I answered that
if you were to ask me what version is the best to play recent and old games the answer to that is 8.0.1. it will run homebrew apps and also it wll run the-latest-newer-most recent-games

You need to be very specific in your question as i cant guess what you want

Help my switch updated its self to OFW 8.0.1 when i was swapping over to a bigger SDcard

is there anyway of going back to OFW 7.0.0 if i have my nand?

The more worrying thing is that it updated to 8.0.1 without me connected to the internet and im always in airplane mode

I did download a game from a website could that be the cause of the upgrade?

I want to stop this happening in the future

whatever Official firmware your NS is on, there is NO way to go back to a lower firmware
in your case there is no way to go back to 7.x.x you are stuck on 8x.x.

No need to panic. 8.0.1 is stable enough to play games and use some hombrewapps.
8.0.1 will allow you to play older games aswell as the newer ones. I am on CFW 8.0.1 and I have NO need to back to 7.x.x ( newer games require new firmwares to run. there is no need to stay on 7..x.x if you wont be able to play 8.x.x games )

downloading a game does not equal updating firmware. something must have happened
go to setting and disable automatic updates.
what is the reason you want to go back to 7.x.x so bad ?

I think i will reset my sdcard and start a fresh just to be on the safe side

Stay on 8.0.1 dont update anymore.
eventually 9.x.x and 10.x.x will come out and we all will have to update to play newer games using ChoiDujourNX . so no need to worry
