M-1000 Maxigun — Heavy Penetration AP4 (Balanced) v2.4

A Mod for Helldivers 2
M-1000 Maxigun — Heavy Penetration AP4 (Balanced) akl_mod_preview_image
The Maxigun always looked like it should punch through something heavier than it actually does. This variant fixes that without turning it into a monster.

What it does
  • Armor penetration: 3/3/3/0 → 4/4/4/0 (AP4)
  • Base damage: 80 → 90
  • Everything else stays vanilla: durable damage, RPM, ammo, recoil, ergonomics, spin-up

What it does NOT do
  • It does not remove the firing movement lock. You still root in place while shooting, exactly like vanilla.
  • No stat inflation, no one-shot nonsense. The goal is a gun that feels fun and finally relevant against heavier armor, not a win button.

Compatibility

Yes, it finally works with the other M-1000 mod now.
You can enable both Free Firing Movement and AP4 Balanced at the same time without them fighting each other. If both are enabled, you get:
  • AP4
  • 90 base damage
  • Free movement while firing

I messed up a variable and it made both M-1000 mods fight each other lol. Fixed it now, so they should work together properly.

The cremator and BFGL both have free movement. It wouldn't be overpowered to have both heavy pen and free movement as you miss out on the backpack slot (supply pack with hmg would still be better)

i like this but my one gripe is can you do it to where you can dive right after you stop shooting, i just really hate the long delay of unlocking the divers movement after he stops shooting and just stands there while a charger just plows you down

They're not broken, they just refuse to share the gun. Run one at a time while I figure it out.

Sorry I don't know why but the description made me think you chose to make them not work together

eu pensei o mesmo., eu testei o mod e ele é incrivel, mas nao fazer com que o mod de caminhar enquanto atira funcione, para mim foi uma sacangem do autor do mod que pensou em deixar o mod com gosto de vanilla+

I can't seem to get any of the maxigun mods to work. I have the latest BSL and default priority, and I tried above and below BSL in my load order. Just refuses to work. Other mods are working just fine, such as the bolt pistol ammo for dominator.

The maxigun mods are required to be loaded *after* the bingus shared mod loader. They are the only ones like that to my knowledge and as a consequence they tend to break a lot of the other mods that use bingus.

Cool mod
do you plan to increase damage or buff some ARs?
Thanks, glad you like it!

For now I'm not planning to buff other weapons. My friends love the M-1000 and I felt it deserved better. Honestly, it's the kind of tweak Arrowhead could make in five minutes, but for some reason they don't. It took me around four hours to get it feeling the way I wanted, and that was with a clear idea of what I was going for.

I'm a programmer, but I'll be honest: ChatGPT and Claude helped a lot with the memory side of things and with testing ideas without blowing the game up lol. My PC definitely suffered through all the real-time logs and memory scans.

The thing is, tracking down everything about a single weapon still takes me way too long, and every update can move things around again. So until I have a proper pipeline that doesn't cost me that much time per weapon, I can't really promise well-made buffs for others.
