SQUAD-SAFE PASSIVES
Your passive mods stay yours.

What it does

Every Helldiver wearing the same armor passive shares that passive's data. So when a mod changes your passive - detection range, movement noise, resistances - anyone in your squad wearing the same passive gets the change too.

Squad-Safe Passives reads in the passives in your party and selects a passive nobody else in your squad is wearing before turning it into an exact copy of yours. Mods that change the passive you wear now change only your copy. Your armor looks the same, plays the same, and your squadmates get the game they signed up for.

  • Works as host, client and solo
  • Automatic - nothing to set up
  • If a squadmate starts wearing the passive you were given, you get another one instantly
  • Switch it off, change armor or close the game and everything goes back to normal
  • Tested in live 4-player lobbies as a client, with a squadmate wearing the same passive

Requirements
  • HD2 Arsenal
  • Bingus Shared Loader
  • Optional: Mod Options Menu (on/off switch)
  • Compatible: HD2 Transmog 0.2.4 (coordinates through its Equipment API)

Installation
  1. Import the ZIP into HD2 Arsenal
  2. Enable Squad-Safe Passives
  3. Deploy with the game closed

Options (Options > MODS > Squad-Safe Passives)
  • Squad-Safe Passives - on/off (default on)
  • Passive Table Log - for mod authors: logs every armor passive (default off)

Good to know
  • Some menus may show the name of the passive you were given instead of your own. The effects are your own passive's.
  • The armory and loadout screens briefly put your own passive back; the copy returns within half a second.
  • What it does NOT cover: mods that change a passive by name, or that change weapons, enemies, stratagems or other shared game data. Those still affect everyone. The log lists shared passives that other mods have changed, so you can see what is reaching your squad.

Works with
  • TCO: Ghosts and Goliath (2.7.7d and later) - your load-based detection, noise, blast padding and Unflinching apply to you alone
  • Any mod that edits the passive you are wearing (see below)

For mod authors
If your mod changes the player's armor passive, you can make it squad-safe for free:
  • No dependency needed: read the player's passive from their customization slot every time and edit that record. While Squad-Safe Passives is active, that is the private copy.
  • Or use the small API (global SquadSafePassives): state(), record(), epoch() and friends tell you exactly which record to edit and when it moves.
Full notes and an example are in API.md inside the download.

Crashes to desktop as soon as I launch. I use mods that add passives to helmets and capes which is probably why that happens.
