Vault and climb from steep ground instead of sliding off. Works after the EAC update.
Recommended: Medic Mod Manager - one app for all your Helldivers 2 mods. Settings-file mods that change the same game file are merged so they all work at once, with no clash with Chef Shared Loader.
Stock, a lot of climbs fail on sloped ground: your Helldiver slides instead of vaulting. This mod raises the slide limit. Want to climb higher instead, or both? There are three downloads - see Pick a download below.
It uses the values from CowboyBingus' Consistent Vaulting (Vanilla Plus Megapack). That version needed the Bingus Shared Loader, which stopped working with the October 20 update. This one changes the game's settings file instead, so it needs no loader - only the mod manager.

There are three zips under Files (about 47 MB each). They change the same values, so only one can be active at a time.
What each one changes (stock game: you start sliding at 45/40 degrees, climb up to 1.95 m, grab ledges from 0.6 m away)

How it works
The mod replaces the game's boot script, which is empty in the stock game. On exit, that script backs up data/game/generated_entities.dl_bin and swaps in the modded copy carried in the mod. It refuses to write over a file it doesn't recognise, for example after a game update or with another mod that changed the same file, and then it does nothing. A log is written to HD2FileMods.log in the game folder.
Each download is about 47 MB because it carries a full modded copy of that file.

What each one changes (stock game: you start sliding at 45/40 degrees, climb up to 1.95 m, grab ledges from 0.6 m away)
- Consistent Vaulting (main file)
- Slope limit 45/40 -> 65/60 degrees: you slide off steep ground much later, so vaults and climbs from slopes work.
- Climb height and ledge reach stay stock (1.95 m, 0.6 m) - climbing itself feels like the normal game.
- Pick this if you just want climbs on slopes and rocks to stop failing.
- Consistent Vaulting High Climb
- Climb height 1.95 m -> 4 m, ledge reach 0.6 m -> 2 m: you climb much higher ledges and grab them from further away, so a climb can look like a jump.
- Slope limit stays stock (45/40): on steep rocks you can still slide off before the climb starts.
- Pick this if you want big climbs on flat ground. Works fine with slide mods like HELLSLIDERS.
- Consistent Vaulting Classic (the first release, 1.0.0)
- Slope limit 65/60 degrees (like the main file) + climb height 2.5 m; ledge reach stays stock.
- Known catch: with the 2.5 m height, Space can do nothing at knee- and waist-high obstacles. That's why 1.0.1 went back to 1.95 m.
- Pick this if you preferred the very first version and can live with that catch.
Changelog
- 1.2.0: new Classic download - the 1.0.0 values, asked for by players. The main file and High Climb are unchanged (same files, new version number).
- 1.1.1: updated for the October 29 game update (7.2.2). Nothing else changed.
- 1.1.0: new High Climb download (4 m climbs, 2 m ledge reach, stock sliding). The main file is unchanged from 1.0.1.
- 1.0.1: fixed Space doing nothing at knee- and waist-high obstacles. 1.0.0 raised the climb height to 2.5 m, which broke the game's check for short climbs; it's back to the game's 1.95 m.
- 1.0.0: first release.
Install (HD2 Mod Manager or HD2 Arsenal)

Requirements and compatibility
- A mod manager (HD2 Mod Manager or HD2 Arsenal).
- Made for the current game version (October 29 update 7.2.2, build 26251122; also recognises the October 20 and October 22 builds). After a game update it changes nothing until this mod is updated.
- Works together with Stratagem Balls Stay Put 1.0.3 or newer - both use the same installer, tick both.
- Doesn't work together with other mods that replace data/game/generated_entities.dl_bin (most weapon buff packs, JAR-5 Buff Pack and similar) - only one of them can be active in HD2 Mod Manager or Arsenal (Medic Mod Manager merges them). The installer then changes nothing and says so in the log.
- Main file tested solo and in multiplayer; High Climb tested solo; Classic uses the 1.0.0 values, which were tested at release.
- Easiest install, and no clash with loaders like Chef Shared Loader: Medic Mod Manager.
Credits
- CowboyBingus, for the original Consistent Vaulting (0BSD).
