SUPER CARDIO
"Liberty speed your step, Helldiver."
"Liberty speed your step, Helldiver."
What it does
Picking up two-handed heavy objects normally locks you into a jog with no way to sprint. This mod lets you run with them.Currently tested and working objects:
- SEAF artillery shells
- Explosive barrels + Illuminate variant
- Platinum bars
- Fusion ion batteries
Other details
- Vanilla stamina: Stamina drains at the base sprint rate. Without sprinting you move at the normal carry speed. Armor values and boosters still affect stamina recovery and run speed, but not the drain rate while running with a heavy object.
- Uses your own controls: Your sprint key and Hold/Toggle setting are read from the game's control settings automatically, including changes you make in game.
- Lightweight: This mod does very little. It only activates when you launch the game, pick a heavy object up, or start a new mission.
- Muscle Enhancement Toggle: If you only want this mod to work when the muscle enhancement booster is equipped, you can toggle it through Vanilla Mega Pack's Mod options or manually through the config file. This is disabled by default.
Requirements
- Bingus Shared Loader v18 or newer
- HD2Runtime 0.28.1 or newer
- A mod manager that supports Bingus addons like Arsenal or HD2 Mod Manager
Installation
- Install Bingus Shared Loader and HD2Runtime first. Give Bingus Shared Loader top priority in your load order.
- Import/download Super-Cardio.zip into Arsenal or HD2 Mod Manager and enable it.
- Deploy your mods and launch the game. Pick up an object, hit sprint, and go.
To check that it's running correctly, open SuperCardio_STATUS.txt (see below). The first line should start with OK once you're on your ship.
To uninstall: disable the mod and Purge in your mod manager. No game files are changed.
Settings (optional)
Super Cardio works out of the box. If you want to tweak it, edit:
Code:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\Logs\SuperCardio_config.txt
- sprint_key=AUTO - AUTO uses your in-game sprint binding. You can also set a key yourself: SHIFT, LSHIFT, CTRL, ALT, CAPSLOCK, SPACE, MOUSE4, MOUSE5, a letter, a number or F1-F24. ALWAYS means you always run while carrying.
- sprint_mode=AUTO - AUTO uses your in-game Hold/Toggle setting. HOLD = hold to run. TOGGLE = tap to start running, tap again or stop moving to stop.
Things to know
- Controllers: The mod can't see controller buttons, so on a controller you carry at normal speed by default. Set sprint_key=ALWAYS to always run while carrying. Stamina will still drain while you move.
- Multiplayer: This mod was tested under multiplayer and solo conditions. You do not need to be the host. I do not condone using mods in public lobbies people might disagree with. All values in this mod are locked to vanilla stats.
- How it works: The mod changes your character's movement and stamina values in memory while you carry something. It doesn't modify game files or game code. As with any mod that changes values in memory, use it at your own risk.
- Performance: Upon every new game launch, the mod will spike activity a bit. It should return to normal levels quickly afterwards and shouldn't take long. Actively holding heavy objects will also spike the mod's activity but will go back to normal once you drop it. I consider this a fair tradeoff, as you won't be carrying heavy objects that much in-game. You should not notice any performance issues though.
- Game updates: If a patch moves things around and the mod can't find what it needs, it will disable itself. The status file will alert you of this.
- AI disclaimer: AI was used in the development of this mod.
Troubleshooting & bug reports
Two files in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\Logs\ show what the mod is doing:- SuperCardio_STATUS.txt - the current state; the first line is the verdict (OK / WAITING / FAILED).
- SuperCardio.log - the details.
Common fixes:
- "HD2Runtime not found" in the status file: Install HD2Runtime as its own mod and make sure it's enabled. Make sure Bingus Shared Loader is top priority in the load order as well.
- Sprint does nothing while carrying: Check the sprint key line in the status file. If it doesn't match your key, set sprint_key yourself in the config.
- Stamina doesn't drain: Check the move keys on the sprint key line of the status file. They should match the keys you move with. If they don't, send a bug report with both files.
Known issues
- With toggle sprint, you'll need to tap sprint again after dropping an object. It works fine for holding sprint though. This will likely not be fixed.
- Crouching while carrying a heavy object can make the object float oddly in your hand. This is a vanilla bug, not caused by the mod. This will not be fixed.
