Slippery When Wet 1.0.1

A Mod for Helldivers 2

Slippery When Wet akl_mod_preview_image
SLIPPERY WHEN WET
Low stamina. Bad footing. Managed Democracy.

WARNING:
I am combining SWW with TCO. You can still use it separately, but it depends on an older version. Use the History tab on TCO and try v1.7.9.

TCO will allow you to select only this mod, so I will do all further development there.

What is Slippery When Wet?

Slippery When Wet makes exhausting your Helldiver a little more dangerous.

When your stamina falls below a threshold you choose, actions that consume stamina have a configurable chance to send your Helldiver straight into a ragdoll.

Sprint when you're winded? You might eat crap.

Try to vault a wall after running halfway across Choohe? Super Earth recommends maintaining three points of contact.

The mod combines the live and expanded stamina tracking from another of my mods Tactical Combat Overhaul with the normal living-ragdoll functionality of RAGDOLLDIVERS.

The goal is simple:

Make stamina exhaustion physically dangerous.

This does not replace either mod. It sits on top of them and makes low-stamina exertion capable of triggering the same normal ragdoll state used by RAGDOLLDIVERS.

Features

  • Configurable stamina threshold — choose how exhausted you need to be before slipping becomes possible.
  • Configurable ragdoll chance — anywhere from 0% to guaranteed disaster.
  • Sprint detection — beginning a sprint below the threshold rolls once.
  • Other stamina actions — vaulting, climbing and other actions that consume stamina can trigger a roll when performed while exhausted.
  • No per-frame nonsense — continuous stamina drain is grouped into one exertion event rather than rolling dozens of times per second.
  • Melee is excluded — even if Tactical Combat Overhaul is configured to make melee consume stamina.
  • Uses normal RAGDOLLDIVERS ragdolling — no fake animation, damage effect or forced knockback.
  • Doesn't hijack Play Dead — if RAGDOLLDIVERS is already holding you in a ragdoll, Slippery When Wet stays out of the way.
  • Changes apply through Mod Options Menu.

How it works

Tactical Combat Overhaul already identifies your Helldiver's live stamina during a mission. Slippery When Wet watches that stamina value and identifies the beginning of an exertion event. If your stamina was already at or below your configured threshold when the action began, it rolls your configured ragdoll chance. If the roll succeeds, it asks the game to enter the same ordinary living-ragdoll state used by RAGDOLLDIVERS.

Example:

You set:

  • Stamina Threshold: 25%
  • Ragdoll Chance: 20%

At 60% stamina, you sprint.

Nothing happens.

At 20% stamina, you stop, then try sprinting again, so Slippery When Wet makes one 20% roll.

If you lose, your Helldiver's legs have submitted a formal request for immediate horizontal deployment.

Settings

With Mod Options Menu installed:

ESC → MODS → Slippery When Wet

  • Enabled
    Default: On

Turns the mod on or off.
  • Stamina Threshold
    Default: 25%
    Range: 0–100%

Eligible stamina-consuming actions can trigger a ragdoll when they begin at or below this percentage of your full stamina bar.
  • Ragdoll Chance
    Default: 20%
    Range: 0–100%

Chance that each eligible action causes a ragdoll.

    0% means never.
    100% means every eligible action.

Changing either value takes effect without restarting the game.

Important Behavior

The threshold is checked when the action begins.

If you start sprinting at 40% stamina with the threshold set to 25%, you don't suddenly become eligible halfway through that same sprint when your stamina falls below 25%.

Stop and start another stamina-consuming action while still exhausted, however, and you're eligible.

This prevents one long sprint from repeatedly rolling the dice as your stamina drains.

Melee never triggers Slippery When Wet.

Tactical Combat Overhaul can optionally charge stamina for melee attacks. Slippery When Wet reads TCO's melee signal and deliberately ignores those stamina losses.

You can be tired and punch bugs without randomly collapsing because of this mod.

Whether punching bugs while exhausted is otherwise advisable is outside the scope of this software.

Requirements

Both RAGDOLLDIVERS and Tactical Combat Overhaul are required.

This mod deliberately reuses their existing systems rather than maintaining separate copies of their stamina and ragdoll logic.

Installation

  1. Install the requirements above.
  2. Import SlipperyWhenWet-v1.0.0.zip into HD2 Arsenal or HD2MM.
  3. Enable Slippery When Wet, Tactical Combat Overhaul and RAGDOLLDIVERS.
  4. Keep Bingus Shared Loader enabled and in its appropriate load-order position.
  5. Purge / Deploy.
  6. Launch the game.

Once you enter a mission, sprint briefly for about two seconds.

Tactical Combat Overhaul needs to identify and validate your live stamina address once per mission. Slippery When Wet waits for that process instead of attempting to locate stamina independently.

Once active:

ESC → MODS → Slippery When Wet

and tune it to however clumsy you think an exhausted Helldiver should be.

Compatibility

  • Does not modify Tactical Combat Overhaul's files.
  • Does not modify RAGDOLLDIVERS' files.
  • Does not alter stamina itself.
  • Does not change melee behavior.
  • Does not hold you in ragdoll.
  • Does not alter RAGDOLLDIVERS' Play Dead or shooting settings.
  • Does not ragdoll you while you're already ragdolled.
  • Uses the game's normal eligibility checks before requesting a ragdoll.

The mod was built against:

  • RAGDOLLDIVERS v1.1.1
  • Tactical Combat Overhaul v1.6.3
  • Helldivers 2 build 25480438 / EXE 1.8.46015.0

Because it relies on exposed state from both dependency mods, major future changes to either one may require an update.

Troubleshooting / Logging

Slippery When Wet writes a diagnostic log to:

Code:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\Logs\SlipperyWhenWet.log

The log reports:

  • Dependency status
  • Current stamina
  • Whether you are currently sprinting
  • Last detected exertion event
  • Last ragdoll result
  • Number of detected events
  • Eligible low-stamina events
  • RNG rolls
  • Successful slips
  • Ignored melee events

If the log says it is waiting for Tactical Combat Overhaul's stamina tracker, sprint for a couple of seconds.

For bug reports, please include SlipperyWhenWet.log.

Recommended Testing / Maximum Stupidity Mode

Want to make sure it's working?

Set:

  • Stamina Threshold: 100%
  • Ragdoll Chance: 100%

Start sprinting.

You should immediately discover why workplace safety regulations exist.

Once you've confirmed it works, I strongly recommend turning those values back down unless your preferred Helldiver movement technique is falling toward the objective.

Running out of stamina was already a bad idea.

Now gravity gets a vote.

I ran it in a test profile to see if it's a mod conflict (hence the lack of mod menu in this log), but it just seems to be unable to find TCO? I tried putting TCO both before and after SWW in the load order

Found the issue. My rebuild of TCO split it up into multiple parts. I am going to roll SWW into TCO and close this page. If that's not to your liking, you can download an old version of TCO from the "history" tab. 1.7.9 should be old enough.

I love stuff like this. Mods like this can keep a game fresh for years (unless arrowhead and Scams YourMoney decide to be idiots)

PC gaming and modding go together like pencils and erasers.

Thanks bro, that means a lot. I have some other mods on my profile you might be into. I'm about to push a reloading change to my combat overhaul and a separate Run-and-Gun mod.

Not sure why, but doesn't work. Tried with 100%/100%, made sure it was set to on, but nothing.

If you have the dependencies and have configured it in Arsenal, you should have a log file- post that, I'll see.
