I've actually started some quick jotted math of it and your changes to the deadeye are actually a nerf in a lot of cases that you weren't already 1 or 2 shotting things. Either enemies weren't going to survive the hit anyway, or your change to durable has significantly tanked the damage against targets where the gain from AP gets invalidated.

Alpha Commanders take 2 shots to break the head before, now 4.

Spewers go from 1 shot to the head or mouth to 2. However, at extreme ranges their armor becomes medium, so this becomes a wash - but in most engagement ranges, it's a nerf.

You could theoretically kill a bile titan with a broken sac in 29 shots before by shooting the flesh inside, but now it takes 71.

You can shoot chargers in the head now, but it takes 28 shots. You'd target the butt or a broken leg, instead. The butt now takes 17 shots instead of 7, and the unarmored leg takes 10 shots instead of 5, the durable nerf cutting the actual damage in almost exactly half.

Hive Guard head is a medium armor, which sounds like it's a great option for this buff. Except it goes from 2 shots... to 2 shots. The durable hit is so extreme that you actually are only doing 162 damage over 145, to a target that has 250 hp. (To be fair, even if it did 300/100, you'd still only do 230 HP in 2 shots.)

You basically could leave the damage alone and only adjust the AP, and you really only get a small buff on a small number of targets, minimally effecting the damage, and instead open it up for damaging heavy targets. Durable damage calculations make any change to durable pretty significant when it was already as high as it was.

You mentioned Hulks, so let's look at the Hulk Bruiser. With your current stats, it takes 7 shots placed on the eye to kill it, or 3 if you kept it 300/100. Either way it's a buff technically, since the old weapon wouldn't have enough AP.

Shooting the Hulk's vent heatsink, the old weapon with AP3 would take 5 shots, with your change it now takes 9.
Normal damage is really a hard, and not a good buff indeed. Reason I did this because I've played mod that makes it ap4 and has 225 damage, and I thought it was pretty nice.
It's just, you know, the only thing that changes penetration for this weapon is hulks and medium enemies get full normal damage, other heavier are harder to kill. For this reason I made it's durable 10, and normal damage nerf as exchange, but this way this weapon is getting only worse.

Buuuuut, in previous message you were talking about deadeye shooting tank heatsink, doing only 10 durable damage to it, but as deadeye got ap4, it deals full normal damage to it, so this is actually a good thing against durable medium enemies. Do you apply this logic on the the next message? I couldn't figure it out fully because don't have time for now.

The Annihilator Tank has a Medium Armor Heatsink Vent with 750 HP that is 100% durable.

The untouched Deadeye does 300/100 at AP3. This means it does 65% damage against the medium armor, because the AP Matches armor. It takes 12 shots to break it, dealing 65 damage a bullet.

Your modified Deadeye does 245/10, at AP4. Thie means it does 100% damage against it, because you've exceeded the armor. It will take 75 shots to break it, dealing 10 damage a bullet.

You want the new Deadeye to be able to be anti-armor in some capacity, even if diminished, which is reasonable. Except because most enemies have very high durable value, it is worse at any hard target with Medium armor as they generally have very high Durable %, negating the gains from going up an AP level due to your massive durable damage nerf. Very few if any enemies have high AP and low Durable, pretty much exclusively Illuminate, and even they have a few cases where they have reasonable Durable %.

Edit: I'm now realizing you are possibly misunderstanding how Durable and AP interact.

A part has a durable %. Say 30%. This means that you take 70% of the normal damage, and then add 30% of the durable damage. This gets you the damage value the bullet would do.

Then you check the AP. If your AP is below their armor, the shot does no damage. If it matches their armor value, you do 65% damage. If it exceeds it, you do 100%.

By making the durable damage 10, a 50% durable part take 5 damage from your durable pool, and then 122 (50% of 245, rounded down) from your normal damage pool, resulting in 127 potential damage, which may then get reduced by 65% to 78 if the target also has heavy armor. But because high armor enemies regularly have 60, 70, 80 or even 100 durable, you get very little damage from your durable pool and then practically no damage or actually no damage from the regular damage pool. It's a net nerf in damage going from 100 to 10 durable on most Medium armor enemies, with very small to non-existent damage in heavy armor enemies.

Durable damage part I know. But I strongly disagree with your last part "It's a net nerf in damage going from 100 to 10 durable on most Medium armor enemies" - durable damage for mediums doesn't apply with ap4, just pure normal damage. Or maybe you meant normal damage. Anyhow, this version of deadeye sucks, I understand.

Durable damage applies always. It doesn't care if you have higher AP.

If you hit a 100% durable medium armor part and you have heavy armor pen, you still do durable and inherit no normal damage.

Damn, so I was wrong the whole time. Well, at least I know now, thanks for correcting me.

Hey, it's no trouble. Durable Damage is one of the most convoluted things about the way the game handles things, and it's easy to misunderstand. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, just trying to help you understand the unintended consequence of bringing durable down so low.

Don't worry about this, you gave me a very valuable information, thank you!
