Ordnance — Helldivers 2 Mod Manager

Ordnance is a Helldivers 2 mod manager for the game after the October 2026 Easy Anti-Cheat update. It merges every enabled mod — stat-plan .dl_bin edits and regular mods alike — into one sealed swap with a single native boot script which supports Chef's, Rat's, and Boot Mod Loader mods. One deploy, everything enabled: no load-order guessing, no running a merger alongside a manager. Ordnance does it all.

Home: https://github.com/Cavadus/ordnance

Main features

  • One sealed swap — every enabled mod merges into a single, conflict-resolved .dl_bin set; when two mods edit the same field, the later one wins.
  • One boot script — a single native boot loader compatible with Chef's, Rat's, and Boot Mod Loader deployed last so it's the script the game runs.
  • Stat-plan edits in Rust — no Python/numpy runtime. Stat-plans are self-describing, so table layouts live author-side, not in the manager.
  • Import from your current mod manager — one-click import from HD2 Arsenal and Echelon, plus the older HD2 mod manager, Vortex, and your Downloads folder, with names, on/off state, and options intact.
  • Automatic update checking — checks every mod against its source: AyakaMods, GitHub, GameBanana, ModWorkshop, and Nexus Mods.
  • One-click downloading — updates from GitHub, GameBanana, and ModWorkshop download and install in place.
  • Automatic downloading (opt-in) — with automatic checks on, those direct updates download and install themselves, no per-mod click. Never touches Nexus Mods.
  • One-click installs from the browser — the free extension drops an Install with Ordnance button on Nexus Mods, AyakaMods, ModWorkshop, GameBanana, and GitHub, so a mod page hands the file straight to Ordnance — logged-in-only downloads included. It ships on the same GitHub release page as the app.
  • Lenient installs — hand-written manifest.json files (slug Guids, missing Guids) install instead of erroring out.
  • Loader conflict detection — flags a boot loader that would fight another mod.
  • Profiles and categories — profiles live in the sidebar with avatars; categories group your mods into a collapsible list.
  • Image previews and versions — thumbnails load (hidden .jpgs folders included), and every mod row shows its version.

Installation

  1. Download for your OS from the latest GitHub release: Windows installer or portable zip; Linux .deb, .rpm, AppImage, or tarball.
  2. Point Ordnance at your Helldivers 2 installation.
  3. Install your mods, enable them, and Deploy — one sealed swap, one boot script.
  4. Optional: load the browser extension (Chrome or Firefox, unpacked) for Install with Ordnance buttons on mod pages.

Requirements

  • Helldivers 2 (current version).
  • Windows 10/11, or Linux with WebKitGTK 4.1 for the binary builds.

Shout outs

Thanks to every mod author whose work Ordnance merges, and to the Democracy Defender Mod Manager project this manager grew out of. Ordnance is MIT-licensed, with attribution to the Apache-2.0 upstream projects it derives from.

Can it check for updates and download them for you?
If the tracked source of your mod is GitHub, GameBanana, and ModWorkshop then YES. If it's Nexusmods or Ayaka, unfortunately no. Nexusmod strictly forbids it via their AUP which I normally wouldn't give a crap about but both of my Windows versions are currently quarantined over there due to a false positive on one of their scanners and I'm trying to stay on their good side.

Ayaka's API literally doesn't have the functionality which honestly surprised me.

I just ran into a somewhat significant issue: your Chrome extension is using the same ID as DDMM's. This means that installing one replaces the other, as the browser sees them as being the same.
Fixed in current 1.0.1.
Sorry to spam, ran into another issue: it can't find my python install. I have python 3.14 installed and accessible from anywhere via terminal as `python`. `python3` however makes the MS store open and ask me to install it.

Fixed in 0.4.2.
I appreciate the added features, but why fork DDMM instead of contributing to it? There's so many mod managers being made for this game, that it feels like un-necessary fragmentation & duplication of efforts :/
Didn't want to be beholden to anyone else tbh.

I'm getting so confused now.

Chief, Arsenal, Medic, , Ordinance, theres like 10 different mod manager things which one is compatible with which and which ones are obsolete?
Ordnance is both a light-weight mod manager AND it detects and handles merges where necessary. That was the whole reason I created it; to have a mod manager that does dl_bin swap merging for you PLUS I was able to create an entire new mod type called a stat plan json which does what dl_bin swap mods currently do except with a tiny json package that is literal kBs in size (instead of ~50mB). Credit to Shodan for that mostly.

Plus the feature creep of non-mod-manager stuff in other mod-managers was also putting me off.

To piggy back off this, I'm also working on a universal mod loader that will be natively integrated into Ordnance so people don't have to futz with ten different mod loaders.

My next release will be a fully integrated and native universal boot mod loader compatible with any/all mods which require any boot mod loader. No file mergers for multiple dl_bin swap mods, no more juggling boot loaders for mods which require every random boot loader.

The entire point of Ordnance was to eliminate the need for any dl_bin swap mod mergers and this will extend that spirit in another way. One mod manager which automatically handles all merges and all boot loaders. No more juggling.

Had to push a bug fix out so I no universal native boot mod loader yet.

0.4.3 — Critical Bug Fix & Some Small New Stuff

Fixed
  • Stat plans follow the game you have installed. Deploy used to apply every stat plan onto the first vanilla copy it saved. After Steam replaced those tables, the next deploy wrote the old ones back over the verified files, and Helldivers 2 crashed on launch. Ordnance now keeps that backup when the live file is still that copy or the last deploy's output, and replaces it only when Steam has put a new table in its place.
  • Chef Shared Loader stays above file-swap boots. A multi-resource loader such as Chef was treated as an ordinary boot script, so file-swap installers got merged and deployed above it. The game then ran that merged script instead of Chef. A loader patch now stays the highest boot, and the other boot scripts stay below it.
New
  • Rename a mod in the library. The name you type is a display override. Entering the manifest's own name clears it.
  • Browser extension 1.0.3. The Nexus button now reads Ordnance Download, sits in the action bar, and shows up on each file when a mod page lists more than one.

hopefully mod managers like this one will allow us to have 360-degree rotating turrets again

I just downloaded 1.0.3 of your browser extension and it's still replacing DDMM's. I have no experience with browser extension packaging or development, but looking at the manifests for both extensions they have identical "key" values. A quick search makes it seem like this is supposed to be a unique identifier.

Yeah, it's re-using the ID. Working on a fix right now.

v0.4.4 Changelog

New

  • Ordnance deploys its own boot loader and starts addons from that boot. Chef, Rat's Shared Loader, and Boot Mod Loader are no longer required.
  • F10 opens an in-game options menu at the current resolution. Chef options, HD2-Options files,
  • ModOptionsMenu, and ModBindingsMenu show up in that menu.
  • Profile export and import. The file is the mod list and option choices, not the mod archives. Missing mods are listed by name.
  • Deploy names the current step. Install names the current step.
  • A failed deploy can send a bug report.
Changed
  • Stat plans are applied to the game tables that are installed now.
  • File swaps are applied at deploy.
  • One mod that cannot be applied is skipped. The rest of the deploy still runs.
  • Key rebind is Right arrow. Enter stays the chat key.
  • Browser extension 1.0.4. The Files-tab button next to Manual download is Ordnance.
Fixed
  • Opening the options menu froze the game.
  • Quitting after the options menu had been opened hung the game.
  • A long frame in a mission could freeze the game.
  • Arrow keys skipped the first row of a new category.
  • Closing the menu opened chat and typed a newline.
  • Mods whose files mentioned Chef were skipped, so their options never appeared.
  • The Launch button could sit off screen.
  • The profile switch arrows pointed the wrong way.
