Delete durable damage 0.1.2

A Mod for Helldivers 2
Delete durable damage akl_mod_preview_image
Durable damage is a silly mechanic. HP already accounts for fleshy areas. Armor accounts for hard to hit areas. Weak points / critical damage accounts for vital areas. Durable damage serves no purpose in game design and leads to some weapons feeling bad to use for no greater purpose. Suffering for a cause is noble. Suffering for no reason is a kink I don't share. If it works for you, don't use this mod. This makes the game feel consistent across targets and all weapons.

I've spent years trying to figure out how to fix the balance in this game. On private lobbies I've tested some wacky changes to every game and strategy. The game needs more tweaks than this mod offers. But just getting rid of the needless complexity that durable damage demands will make everything feel noticeably better. You're welcome.

I didn't directly use AI for this. I used the ModBuilder for HD2Runtime. Pretty sure Bingus Shared Loader and HD2Runtime were created by AI though.

Thank you to CowboyBingus and SkyeShade for giving me the tools to move my ideas out of spreadsheets and into a mod that is testable.

Is this just "Stat edit" mod for all weapons or this is compatibly with SHODAN'S stat editor?

It's a stat edit. I don't know how well it would work with another stat editor. My mod only changes settings that have the default value (so SHODAN's changes should override my mod's changes). But your PC will be slower running both. I'm adding Mod Options right now, so you can adjust settings or even disable the entire mod from the settings menu.

That's subjective. I always used the explosive weapons because they were consistent at killing. When I learned about the durability mechanic and how little durable damage most weapons did I understood why everything non explosive felt like crap. This makes every weapon in the game feel good to use. And once you fix the stupid balance design (like I said in the overview, durable damage is silly and is not needed), then you can lean into mods that spawn more enemies.

Does the affect everyone in the match or just the person using the mod? And how does it interact with something like the Helldivers' Ammunition Mod by ChaosOfficerOnyx? As in, will your mod override the ammo mod or be compatible with it

My mod only changes settings that are default. If you change anything, my mod won't take affect for that field.

Hi sorry for any confusion but, does this affect enemies dealing durable damage to sentries/mechs/frv/emplacement/tanks? helldivers dont really matter yes, but am curious if this might buff enemies as well as the durability of our stuff might be lost?

"Durable damage" is the most twisted and underhanded mechanic Arrowhead uses to secretly work against players. In the months following the game's launch, everyone assumed that a weapon's actual damage matched its listed stats, while believing that the soft parts of Terminids simply had 90% damage reduction against ballistic rounds. It wasn't until data-mining revealed the hidden "durable damage" mechanic months later that the truth came out. All the stealth nerfs to weapon damage were actually based on this stat—such as the HMG's durable damage being quietly reduced from 50 to 35, a change Arrowhead never admitted to. The covert buffs to the durable damage dealt by various enemy units against players were equally infuriating. Furthermore, all signs suggest they were deeply irritated and defensive once players uncovered the existence of this mechanic.
