Tanks Overhaul 2.5

A Mod for Helldivers 2
Tanks Overhaul akl_mod_preview_image
Retrofits the TD-220 Bastion and TD-110 Maelstrom with 4 selectable primary profiles: Tankiest, Very Agile, Tankier, and Agile. Each tank may be configured separately.

The tankiest and tankier retrofits make the tank tougher up front and on the sides, but weaker in the rear. The very agile and agile retrofits make the tank much more manoeuvrable, at the expense of overall durability and rear protection.

!!! NOTICE: If you experience significant FPS loss when using a tanky or agile profile, switch to the 50ms version. The 50ms profile is functionally the same for gameplay purposes, but performs less frequent reads. This will help ease CPU overhead.

I RECOMMEND PLAYERS PICK THE 50ms PROFILES BY DEFAULT INSTEAD OF THE STANDARD PROFILES

For the tankiest option, the tank should feel noticeably tankier against conventional enemy fire. Dedicated AT enemy attacks (ie rockets, plasma, harvester beams, cannons, bile, chargers) will still deal significant damage to the tank. In addition, backshots are now extra dangerous. Don't turn your back to the enemy!

As a reference, the theoretical TTK against the front of either tank is now:

  • Harvester beam (lens unbroken): 17 seconds
  • Factory Strider Cannon: 3 salvos
  • Hellbomb: 1
The tankier option retains the tanky buffs but with Main HP unbuffed.

For the very agile option, the tank trades a weakened rear for a much easier time moving around the battlefield. Acceleration and maximum speed overall increase by 100%, while torque and steering response increase by 150%. In-game behavior is unlikely to reach these values due to factors like tank mass, traction, terrain, etc.

The agile option retains the exact same settings as agile, but with a 33% overall increase in potential max speed and acceleration.

Showcase: Tankiest profile's durability

Showcase: Agile and Tankiest profiles side by side

Showcase: Very Agile profile's maneuverability

Made with help from GPT-6 Astra
Requires Bingus Shared Loader v16 or newer

Profiles
Both the Bastion and Maelstrom can independently use any profile

There is a 50 ms option for all profiles. These function the same as their regular counterparts but perform locomotion checks less frequently. This should noticeably reduce CPU and frame load. There is a mildly elevated risk of a rare agile call-in that retains the vanilla locomotion settings, but this is not guaranteed and may never happen.
Tankiest:
Traction:
  • Increases friction coefficient on all 10 tank wheels by 50%
Main Health:
  • 8000 -> 12,000
Lunchbox:
  • All damage transfer to main set at 0%
Frontal + side armor and tracks:
  • AV4 (heavy) -> AV5 (Tank 1)
Rear Superstructure (pilot seat):
  • AV4 (heavy) -> AV3 (medium)
  • Percent to Main (damage transfer): 100% -> 200%
Rear Engine Upper Structure:

  • AV4 (heavy) -> AV3 (medium)
  • Percent to Main (damage transfer): 100% -> 150%
Rear Engine Lower Structure:

  • Percent to Main (damage transfer): 100% -> 150%

Very Agile:
Traction:
  • Increases friction coefficient on all 10 tank wheels by 50%
Lunchbox:
  • All damage transfer to main set at 0%
Acceleration and Max Speed:
  • Now 2x original (sounds more broken than it actually is)
Torque and Steering Response:
  • Now 2.5x original (sounds more broken than it actually is)
Rear Superstructure (pilot seat):
  • AV4 (heavy) -> AV3 (medium)
  • Percent to Main (damage transfer): 100% -> 200%
Rear Engine Upper Structure:
1790389562720.png

  • AV4 (heavy) -> AV3 (medium)
  • Percent to Main (damage transfer): 100% -> 150%
Rear Engine Lower Structure:
1790389994389.png

  • Percent to Main (damage transfer): 100% -> 150%
Tankier:
Same values as Tankiest, but with main HP unchanged (8,000)
Agile:
Same values as Agile, but with acceleration and max speed at 1.33x the original

Lunchbox:
  • 0% transfer to main -> 0% transfer to main (the wiki incorrectly states a 100% transfer)
False. Go install Driver HUD mod. Get ap1 gun, shoot lunchbox. Full damage transferred to the core.

Oh. I see. Driver Hud mod conflicts with yours. Welp.

Tbh I wouldn't be against shipping out an overpowered combo, but it would likely go against current guidelines for posting overpowered cheat mods. Will probs revert the 6k main nerf tho seeing as it paired with a vulnerable backside may have been too much
That would be awesome, and honestly, the improved turning responsiveness from your mod is all the tank needs. The increased speed is nice, but may be overpowered. Keep up the good work.

> Makes Tank Rebalance mod
> Says the Lunchbox is 0% even tho you can go in game without any mod and shoot them visualy seeing the tank lost 10% HP instantly

Yep, did an A/B test at 0% and 800% and confirmed there is still damage to the tank. So something else is damaging the tank besides transferring to the main. Will fix

FPS drop surely happen in this version with CPU also getting much higher temp otherwise great mod
can confirm. I average 100FPS, with the mod i drop to ~60FPS.

If this can be fixed that would be incredible because despite the small amount of time I spent testing the agility mod... it felt amazing to drive the tank

Is it still dropping to 60 for you? I can try to optimize it some more, though making the mod perform fewer reads may come at the risk of occasional tank call-ins not adopting the agile values

Hey, sorry for being the one who brings bad news but on my side the mod lower my fps by a lot, at least on my side, idk if i'm the only one, but problems aside, i love the idea of the mod <3

But for now it's unplayable for me :(

PD: i tested it with the agile profile, i didn't try the other one

So feedback. The agile build really changes the tank up in a positive way. Id say its a little too much atm, is there a way that we can get a variant where the top speed is the equivalent of driving in 1st gear (with agile settings on).
