WE ARE SO BACK!
FREEDOM EDITION WORKS WITHOUT LUA

MINISTRY OF MUSIC // PUBLIC DIRECTIVE 0-0
When the Helldivers seized the Automaton master record on Cyberstan, the Ministry put it to work for Super Earth. That is Liber-Tunes. But some citizens asked a fair question: why should a free people listen to a record that once belonged to the bots?
The Ministry agreed. The record was sent for full decontamination. Every bot note, every line of Automaton code and every trace of Cyberstan was scrubbed out, until nothing was left but clean, democratic vinyl. The sleeve was reprinted in the colours of Super Earth, and a blank copy has been issued to every Helldiver in the fleet.
What goes on it is your decision. Fill it with your own democratic playlist, and it becomes the music of your Super Destroyer, your Hellpod and your battles. This is freedom of choice, as guaranteed by Managed Democracy. Stay free!

Liber-Tunes: Freedom Edition is Liber-Tunes with no songs included. Copy your own mp3 files into a folder, keep playing, and from the next start they are the game's music.
Your songs become real game music, not a player running next to the game. The game's volume sliders work, the music goes quiet under ship announcements, and it changes with the action like the original soundtrack.
- Close the game and run the Freedom Edition Builder once (double-click Build Freedom Edition songs.bat). It creates Music\Liber-Tunes\ in your Windows Music folder, with a folder for each part of the game.
- Copy mp3 files (or 16-bit wav) into the folders you want. A file can be in several folders.
- Run Build Freedom Edition songs.bat again and wait for "Done". It converts your songs and installs them, outside the game.
- Start the game: your songs play.
Put in as many songs as you like. Every part plays its folder as a random playlist: the next song is picked at random and the one that just played is not repeated right away, so with a full folder no two missions sound the same. One file in a folder? It plays every time.
- Ship: on the Super Destroyer and in the loadout screens
- Main Menu: the title screen
- Drop: the Hellpod drop. The whole song plays, and the battle music takes over when the game switches to it.
- Battle: Terminids, Automatons, Illuminate, or All Factions
- Calm (experimental): Terminids, Automatons, Illuminate, or All Factions, in the quiet parts of a mission between fights. When a fight starts the battle music takes over.
- Extraction: Terminids, Automatons, Illuminate, or All Factions, from calling the Pelican until takeoff
- Pelican Takeoff: when the Pelican takes off
- Flag Raising: instead of the anthem at the flagpole
- Jukebox Only: played only by the Liber-Tunes Jukebox
- Nothing else to install: the mp3 decoder and the Wwise encoder are built into the mod. You don't need ffmpeg or a converter.
- Random playlists: each folder is shuffled, like the Liber-Tunes playlists. Battle and extraction can have their own songs for every front.
- Even loudness: every song is levelled to the same loudness for its part, as in Liber-Tunes, so quiet and loud tracks play at the same level.
- You control the mix: volume sliders for the ship, drop, battle, extraction and takeoff, a conversion speed setting and a status line in ESC > MODS.
- Liber-Tunes Jukebox: the jukebox lists your files by name, plays them on the ship and can switch songs off for your missions.
- Survives game updates: the mod reads the game's current music each time it builds, so it never brings back an old copy.
- Bingus Shared Loader, last in the load order.
- Optional: Mod Options Menu for the sliders and the status line in ESC > MODS.
- Optional: Mission Debrief. With it the mod can tell a mission from the ship, so it converts at half speed during missions.
- Import the ZIP in HD2 Arsenal and enable it. Keep Bingus Shared Loader last.
- Do not enable the full Liber-Tunes at the same time. While it is loaded, this mod stays off.
- Deploy and start the game.
- Only you hear it. Nothing goes over the network, and your squadmates hear their own music.
- The mod writes only its own files: its own patch, its own copy in HD2 Arsenal's mod storage (Arsenal copies every mod again on each Deploy and game start) and its folder in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\LiberTunesBYOM. It does not read or write game memory.
- After you import a new version of this mod, it rebuilds your music from its cache. That one game start plays without your songs.
- Use music you own. The mod comes with no songs.
- Problems? Post here with BYOM.log and STATUS.txt from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\LiberTunesBYOM.
- CowboyBingus: Bingus Shared Loader, Bingus Shared Runtime and Mod Options Menu.
- lieff: minimp3 (CC0), ported to Lua for this mod.
- MrChengl11: HD2 Lua Mod Skill (archive tools).
