Vanilla Plus Megapack v37

A Mod for Helldivers 2
Vanilla Plus Megapack akl_mod_preview_image
Make sure you have the latest version of Bingus Shared Loader before downloading this mod.

All of the CowboyBingus Helldivers 2 gameplay mods in one install. The following mods are included and maintained in this pack:
  • Better Stratagem Bounce
  • Hellpod Steering Unlocked
  • Reinforcement Beacons Fixed
  • Shallow Water Diving
  • Consistent Vaulting
  • Sentry Aim Retention
  • Enemy Collision Synchronized
  • Controllable Hover Pack
  • Know Your Constellation
  • Armory Preview Cache
  • Clickable Scrollbars
  • Arc Thrower Revamped
  • Galactic Menu Hotkey
All of my mods are client-side only and do not mechanically change the way other players' games operate.

This mod can technically be safely installed without removing my other individual mods. However, I'd recommend removing or disabling them just to be safe, and placing this mod just above Bingus Shared Loader in the mod loader (second-to-last).

Hi there, are you using any mods besides my own? If you are, disable them and try again. If not, please DM your logs from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus (specifically BingusSharedLoader.log) and I'll see if I can figure out why it's not working for you.

Hey I hope you don't mind me asking about your development process!

I've been exploring how to make script mods and I'm stuck.

I have a GitHub copilot subscription, I cloned the bingus shared loader, vanilla megapack, file diver, hd2-runtime and the universal-modder skill into a shared workspace for ai.

Using them as context, I had copilot teach me how they work.

So it seems like bingussharedloader is wrapping a wwise function to help "require" other script mods, which loads them into the engine and executes them.

Once the mods have been executed, they retrieve a global "update" function which kinda calculates game logic every delta time or something. They make a wrapper over the original function, add in their custom code, then replace the global update function.

In the mod custom code, they seem to be using windows apis to read the game process memory and writing to it.

They have hardcoded offsets from game.dll in dynamic memory that likely point to specific specific stable pointers that point to entity managers that manage the player, weapons etc. from there, they have further hardcoded offsets meant to identify specific fields within the entity for the mods to patch live in game.

Some other mods have a different approach where they have hardcoded signatures that match certain instructions that relate to accessing specific entities, which the mod then uses with specific offsets to find places to patch.

My problem now is that I'm unsure how they get all these offsets and signatures.

Sure, things like hd2-runtime have found some for me, but what if there are entities I'm looking for that they haven't mapped?

I guess traditionally, I could hook up cheat engine to the game process, do a memory scan for a specific value, change it, scan, repeat. Get the specific address, then get a list of pointers to this address, then repeat to get stable pointers.

But isn't hd2 protected by gameguard? How do you bypass gameguard?

I could try static analysis with ghidra and feed the reconstructed c code to ai to analyze, but after analysis by ghidra, it looks like the exe and dll files have been packed/encrypted, so it's not helpful, revealing only a handful of functions and strings.

I guess the next step would be to use x64dbg and Scylla to dump live game memory and reconstruct an exe to feed to ghidra to decompile, but it runs into the gameguard problem again.

So at this point I'm stuck, do you have any tips for me?

Thank you for reading up to this point!

Also, it would be cool if you had a dev blog or something so noobs like me to learn from you

I just overwrote the old V36 files with the latest V37 ones, and to my surprise, the problem disappeared—which really puzzles me. However, if I delete V36 and then add V37 fresh, the issue reappears.
But for now, I don't have any problems. Thanks!

Make sure you grab the updated Shared Loader as well. Both have been updated to fix a lot of issues.

It takes extensive reverse engineering and analysis while the game is opened since it's packed/encrypted as you said. I maintain an in-depth private knowledge base which I point any agents working on the codebase to.
